Dr Michelle Gajus studied medicine at UNSW and graduated with first class honours. She completed her ophthalmology specialist training in Melbourne through the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in 2005. After a brief period of work in Melbourne, she began to live and work in the Illawarra in 2006.

Dr Gajus is interested in both the medical and surgical components of ophthalmology. She is highly experienced in the treatment of cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and eyelid pathology. She does not practice paediatric ophthalmology.

Dr Gajus is an examiner of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer of the University of Wollongong, and a Clinical Educator of the La Trobe school of Orthoptics.
